Police in Wales arrest two in connection with golf course murder probe

Two men have been arrested in Wales in connection with a golf course murder probe. Suzanne Cherry, 62, died after being struck by a van at Aston Wood Golf Club in Shenstone, Staffordshire. Staffordshire Police said the victim was struck by a van which had been involved in a police pursuit at approximately 10.25am on Friday, April 11. She was taken to hospital following the incident but died on Tuesday, April 15. Detectives subsequently launched a murder investigation. The force today [Saturday] confirmed two men, aged 36 and 26, and both from Coseley in the West Midlands, were arrested in South Wales on Good Friday on suspicion of assisting an offender. They were due to be interviewed by officers soon. Three other men were arrested by officers from West Midlands Police in connection with the incident on April 16. A 51-year-old man from Bloxwich was held on suspicion of murder, a 22-year-old man from Dudley was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and assisting an offender, and a 41-year-old man from Worcester was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. The 41-year-old has since been released on conditional bail, while the other two remain in custody as detectives were granted additional time to question them. He is currently being held in police custody. Police continue to appeal for information from the public, particularly from anyone who may have been in the area of Blake Street and Birmingham Road between Sutton Coldfield and Shenstone at the time of the incident. Staffordshire Police have launched a Major Incident Public Portal for the public to submit information, which can be accessed here . Staffordshire Police previously confirmed the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) is investigating the circumstances prior to the collision when officers from West Midlands Police had responded to the vehicle being involved in reports of suspicious activity.
