Police seize 17 cars after targeting Birmingham area - some had been abandoned for months

Officers from the West Midlands Police proactive crime team in Birmingham, Operation Skybridge, have targeted Small Heath over the past month, making multiple arrests, seizing weapons and vehicles.
The team worked with the community and one of the biggest issues raised for the area was vehicles being abandoned in streets and left for months.
Officers swept across Camelot Way and Glovers Road in Small Heath and the community guided them to nuisance cars that had been abandoned. Some of the cars had been stripped of parts, some were suspected stolen, whilst they all had either no road tax or no insurance, or in some cases, they had neither.
Over the course of the morning, 17 vehicles were seized and cleaned up from the area, making a significant difference to the streets.
Sergeant Danny Fulford, from Operation Skybridge, said: “A vital aspect of policing is listening to the community, working with them, and addressing their concerns.
“Operation Skybridge works on this basis, to work with communities, and so, we were pleased to receive such positive feedback following our vehicle sweep."
He added: "It was important to have these vehicles removed from the streets, some which had been abandoned for months, and some which had little to no car parts left.”
