Black Queens head coach Kim Lars Björkegren has called up 32 players for the team’s upcoming camping session, scheduled to take place from May 3 to May 12 at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence (GSCE) in Prampram. All invited players are expected to report to camp by 10:00 am on Sunday, 4th May. This training camp is part of the preparation towards the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations set to take place in July as the national team continues to rebuild and strengthen under the current technical direction.
The 32-player squad features a strong blend of domestic and international talents, with several players earning call-ups based on impressive performances at the club level. Notable names include Alice Kusi of Al Ahli SFC, Elizabeth Oppong of Apollon Ladies in Cyprus, and Sandra Owusu Ansah of Turkey’s Gölbaşı Belediyespor, reflecting the GFA’s continued commitment to integrating both home-based and foreign-based players.
Northern Ladies dominate the list with multiple call-ups including Afi Ameyneku, Mohammed Wasiima, Celestina Boye, and Abdulai Binto, showcasing the club’s growing influence in Ghana’s women’s football scene. Other domestic powerhouses like Police Ladies, Dreamz Ladies, and Tamale Super Ladies also have strong representation in the squad.
The camping at Prampram is expected to focus on tactical drills, physical conditioning, and team bonding exercises as the Black Queens prepare for the upcoming WAFCON in Morroco. With the Black Queens aiming for a good performance in the tournament, this camping exercise represents a critical step in building a formidable squad for the challenges ahead.
