Arsenal ensured that Liverpool would have to put a stop to any early celebrations over a Premier League title win with a 4-0 win at Ipswich on Sunday, while Manchester United slumped to a defeat at home to Wolves.
Leandro Trossard opened the scoring at Portman Road just before the quarter-hour mark as the Belgian found a way to put the ball past Ipswich keeper Alex Palmer on his way down to the ground. The Gunners doubled their lead in the 28th minute as Gabriel Martinelli slotted the ball into the net after Mikel Merino put it up on a platter for his teammate on the back of an incisive run by Bukayo Saka on the left.
Arsenal took a two-goal lead into the break and had a numerical advantage in terms of bodies on field as Leif Davis was given the marching orders in the 32nd minute.
Mikel Arteta’s men extended their lead after resumption as Trossard netted yet again on the day to put the Gunners three to the good. Ethan Nwaneri rounded off the overwhelming Gunners performance on the road with his side’s fourth of the night after coming off the bench.
Manchester United 0-1 Wolves
United slumped to yet another home defeat in a disatrous season as Pablo Sarabia’s 77th minute winner condemned United to a 0-1 defeat at the Old Trafford. The win also propelled Wovles to match United’s season tally of 38 points at the end of 33 games, and the 14th placed United are ahead only on goal difference.
Fulham 1-2 Chelsea
Alex Iowbi opened the scoring in London with a 20th minute strike, but the Blues hit back with two late strikes courtesy of Tyrique George and Pderon Neto in second half stoppage time to steal a triumph at Craven Cottage.
