Brentford defender Rico Henry rocked up to training last week in an Aston Villa shirt, as a part of the club's Football Jersey Friday initiative inspired by Henry's teammate Mikkel Damsgaard.
The Bees were raising money for and awareness of the Heart of West London initiative, which centres around cardiac health issues and works to ensure everybody possesses the skills to save a life if they were required to.
The idea of wearing retro shirts spanned from the Football Jersey Friday tradition which began in Damsgaard's native Denmark and which he inspired Brentford to follow suit with. He himself wore an old school Inter Milan shirt with compatriot Christian Eriksen's name on the back, while Bryan Mbeumo chose a retro Cameroon top and Keane Lewis-Potter a Hull City top.
Christian Norgaard donned a Real Madrid away kit from yesteryear, while Igor Thiago opted for a PSG top, with namesake Thiago Silva's name on his back.
Goalkeeper Hakon Valdimarsson went for AC Milan, Sepp van den Berg with Porto, fellow keeper Mark Flekken a Schalke top, Vitaly Janelt a Bosnia and Herzegovina top and Kevin Schade a Germany top.
Yoane Wissa also went international with a vintage Portugal shirt, as did Nathan Collins in an old school Ireland top, while Fabio Carvalho and Yunus Emre Konak both wore Chelsea jerseys and Paris Maghoma an Arsenal offering. Henry, though, went with Villa's top from 2010-11 which was produced by Nike.
The left-back is Birmingham born and trialled at Villa when he was a youngster, while with Cadbury Athletic, before he made the grade at Walsall. He broke into the Saddlers' first team as a teenager before completing his move - and in the process reuniting with Dean Smith - at the Bees.
Henry has racked up over 200 appearances for Brentford into what is his ninth season with the club, although plenty of that time has involved him being sidelined with serious injuries.
