The Ogun State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the death of 21-year-old Tosin Lawal, a pregnant woman, in the Ilaro area of the state. PUNCH Metro gathered on Tuesday that Lawal was nine months pregnant when the incident occurred on Monday. The spokesperson for the command, Omolola Odutola, stated that the 21-year-old woman suddenly experienced an unusual sensation in her heart, identified as heart palpitations, despite having no prior illness. According to a police situation report from the Ilaro Division, the husband, Akeem, rushed her to the Ore-Ofe Specialist Hospital on the morning of Monday, March 10, 2025, after she complained of a rapidly beating heart. Upon arriving at the hospital around 3:30 p.m., Lawal was reportedly declared dead on arrival by the attending doctor. “The husband said Lawal told him that her heart was beating faster. The doctor declared her dead on arrival after she was rushed to the hospital. “The police have advised Akeem to take his wife’s remains to the State Hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy. Coroner forms have been submitted for further investigation into the cause of death.” PUNCH Metro reports a rise in cases of sudden death across the state. On March 6, a 32-year-old man, Isaac Omoleye, was discovered dead in a residence opposite the Federal Polytechnic, Ilaro. His body was found lying motionless on the ground, with preliminary reports suggesting no signs of foul play. Also, a 62-year-old hotel attendant, Abel Johnson, was found dead in his room at the De-Lay Classic Hotel in Kajola Village, near Obafe Town, Ogun State. Johnson was last seen in good health around 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 6, 2025, before retiring to his room for the night. Concern arose the following morning (Friday) when he failed to report for duty.
