Prof. Olusoji George of the Faculty of Management Sci-ences, Universi-ty of Lagos, will be 70 on Tuesday.He was born on Friday, August 12, 1955. George holds a B.Sc. in So-ciology from the University of Ibadan in 1979 and M.Sc. in Industrial Sociology in 1981, from the same university. He also holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) degree in Organisational Behaviour and Human Resource Man-agement, and Ph.D. from the University of Bradford, Unit-ed Kingdom. He started his teaching career in University of La-gos in 2011 as a Lecturer I in the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Management Sciences and rose through the ranks to be-come a Professor in 2021. He has served the university in many capacities. Prof. George served as Ex-ternal PhD Assessor, Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago -Iwoye, Ogun State; External Examiner, Crawford Univer-sity, Faith City, Faith City, Igbesa, Ogun State; External Assessor, Yaba College of Technology, Department of Business Administration; Electoral Commissioner for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) in Lagos State East Senatori-al District in the 2015 general elections. George has also supervised over 500 MSc, MA, EMBA and MBA students/candidates to completion on Nigerian, The Netherlands and United King-dom universities. He is also a Visiting Fac-ulty Member at the Lagos Business School, Pan Atlantic University, Lekki, Lagos. Outside the university, he was on the Sales and Market-ing team of Sona Breweries in the 1980s. Besides, George is the Chief Executive Officer/Se-nior Partner of J.Soji-George and Co, a Business and Man-agement Consulting firm. The erudite scholar holds memberships and fellow-ships in several prestigious professional bodies, includ-ing American Academy of Management; Africa Acade-my of Management; Nigerian Academy of Management; In-ternational Society of Devel-opment & Sustainability; and Chartered Institute of Loan & Risk Management of Nigeria. He has published over 80 local and international aca-demic journal papers as at 2024. One of his books, Impact of Culture on the Transfer of Management Practices, has won several awards and is currently being translated to Chinese and Japanese lan-guages.
