Punjab Kings took to social media and shared a three-word post for Shreyas Iyer after their captain in the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) failed to earn a recall in the Indian T20I squad for the 2025 Asia Cup, which will take place from September 9 to 28 in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). After a stunning season with PBKS in the 2025 IPL, where he became just the third batter in the league's history to score over 600 runs in a season with a strike-rate above 175, many expected Shreyas to earn a recall to the Indian side in the shortest format of the game for the first time since December 2023. The star batter was also India's top run-getter in the 2025 Champions Trophy triumph. However, the 30-year-old was not picked in the Suryakumar Yadav-led side and did not even find a place in the list of five standbys. The move has sparked backlash. Amid the fan outrage on social media, PBKS' post for Shreyas went viral. 'Trust the process,' wrote the franchise. The 2024 IPL-winning captain led the Punjab-based franchise to their first appearance in the playoffs and later final in 11 years. It was only the third instance in history of them making the playoffs and just their second outing in a final. Shreyas is the only captain in IPL history to reach multiple finals. He led Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) to a title victory in 2024. Earlier, Delhi Capitals (DC) reached their only final in history under Shreyas in 2020. In the 2025 season, Shreyas had his most successful season with the bat, with 604 runs in 17 matches at an average of 50.33 and a strike-rate of 175.07.
