"I Really Thought That at the Time!" - Alcaraz Admits Powerlessness Against Sinner

Carlos Alcaraz is still reflecting on his Wimbledon experience, where he lost the final to his great rival, Jannik Sinner.
The Spanish tennis player won the first set of the final, but the world number one then dominated.
Following the defeat, the Spaniard took a break with family and friends to recharge for the rest of the season.
What Alcaraz said
Alcaraz's comment to his box, admitting Sinner was better than him in every aspect, speaks volumes about Sinner's on-court performance.
"I really thought that at the time. Jannik was outstanding. I gave it my all..." Carlos Alcaraz said, as reported by Sportal.
"In tennis, everything comes down to mentality. When I'm on the court, I try not to think about anything other than playing the sport I love. It's always been my dream to be a tennis player.
"I think that makes it easier to handle the pressure – I just focus on the game. There was a time when criticism affected me deeply, but now I've learned not to give it too much weight. I've learned to learn from losses, that every step matters."
This season, Alcaraz has clinched five titles, including the French Open, where he saved match points in the final to defeat Sinner.
"I've achieved some really important things, met key goals I set at the beginning of the year, and I want to continue on that path. I often think about the French Open final, and I still don't know how I did it. That match showed me that you have to believe in yourself until the very end, never get discouraged, no matter what happens.
"Last year, I struggled to find my best tennis after what happened at the Olympics, but the advantage this year is that I barely have any points to defend from now on.
"I'll give everything to earn as many points as possible because my main goal for the rest of the year is to become world number one again. I know Jannik won't be bothered by having so many points to defend, but I'm ready for the challenge."
