President Cyril Ramaphosa has congratulated the Proteas on winning the International Cricket Council’s Test Championship against Australia by five wickets in London.
He says coach Shukri Conrad, captain Temba Bavuma and the team have done South Africa proud.
They started the match as underdogs, but that indomitable spirit, that is a characteristic of the South African nation, carried the team through.
He believes the win will inspire a new generation of cricketers.
Ramaphosa called on the nation to go and greet the Cricket World Champions when they arrive back in the country on Wednesday morning.
