Rangers star makes shock return from injury as he’s named in starting XI after more than FIVE MONTHS out
@Source: thescottishsun.co.uk
RANGERS haven't had many positive boosts in recent weeks.
But as a torrid campaign for the Light Blues comes to an end, they're welcoming back a long-term absentee.
With Celtic confirmed champions and no hope of cup glory, Rangers will finish the season without any silverware.
Their B team will, however, have the chance to land a trophy tonight.
In an Old Firm clash between closed doors at Firhill, Rangers B and Celtic B will do battle for the Glasgow Cup.
In an interesting quirk, it's the competitions SECOND final held this campaign.
That's after last season's final wasn't held until December last year, with Rangers triumphing 3-2 in a thriller.
Gers first teamers Oscar Cortes and Rabbi Matondo were given surprise run-outs on that occasion - and there's an even more shocking inclusion tonight!
Defender Neryasho Kasanwirjo is a surprise inclusion in the starting XI.
The 23-year old joined the Gers on a season-long loan from Feyenoord last summer and had initially impressed, but his campaign looked OVER at the end of last year.
He sustained a devastating knee injury while on international duty with the Netherlands under-21s at the end of November and it seemed unlikely he'd play again this campaign.
There were even suggestions that his loan could be ended and that he'd return to his parent club.
But five months on, he's back.
With Rangers holding an option to buy as part of the loan deal, it could be a hint that Kasanwirjo has a longer-term future at the club beyond next month.
Findlay Curtis, who's seen plenty of first team action in recent weeks, captains the Gers B team at Partick Thistle's home.
The Celtic side includes the likes of Daniel Cummings, Jude Bonnar and Mitchel Frame, all of whom have first team minutes to their name.
