Former Australian opening batter David Warner, who led Sunrisers Hyderabad to IPL 2016 title win by getting the better of Royal Challengers Bengaluru in the final played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on May 29, 2016, has backed the Bengaluru-based franchise to win the IPL title this year. Rajat Patidar-led RCB has been in red-hot form this year, and they will play in the IPL 2025 final scheduled to take place at Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Tuesday (June 3). RCB booked their place in the title decider by getting the better of Punjab Kings (by 8 wickets) in the first qualifier played at New PCA Stadium in Mullanpur on Thursday (May 29). In the title decider, RCB will take on the winner of the second qualifier match, which will be played between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians in Ahmedabad on Sunday (June 1). According to Warner, RCB are going to win the IPL 2025 title, and his former Australian teammate Josh Hazlewood will be the Player of the Match. “David, what do you think who will be the champion of Tata IPL 2025? @davidwarner31” A fan asked Warner on X, and in reply, he wrote, “I think RCB and Josh hazelwood man of the match.” Hazlewood has played a big role in RCB’s super show in the IPL this year. In 11 matches played so far, the 34-year-old fast bowler from Australia has picked up 21 wickets. Hazlewood is third on the list of leading wicket-takers, and if he manages to take at least five wickets in the final, then he will overtake GT’s Prasidh Krishna and win the Purple Cap. Kohli leading the charts Virat Kohli was retained for Rs 21 crore by RCB ahead of the IPL 2025 mega auction, and in the ongoing season, the 36-year-old right-handed batter has impressed with his batting performances. With 614 runs to his name in 14 matches played so far, Kohli is RCB’s leading run getter. He has scored eight half-centuries this season, and if he manages to cross the 50-run mark in the final, then he will equal Warner’s record of most half-centuries in one edition of the world’s richest franchise cricket league.
