The 65th Caribbean Senior Table Tennis Championships served off yesterday at the Garfield Sobers Gymnasium.
Twelve countries are represented at the championships, which run until June 22 and will see the best players from across the Caribbean battle it out.
The Dominican Republic, Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Guyana, Jamaica, Antigua, Aruba, Cuba, Saint Lucia, Puerto Rico, Trinidad and Tobago, and Barbados marked the start with a parade of teams.
The championships began with team events and will include doubles and singles competitions.
President of the Barbados Table Tennis Association, Trevor Farley, outlined the significance of the tournament and its benefits.
President of the Caribbean Region Table Tennis Federation, Teddy Matthews, encouraged the athletes to keep their eyes fixed on the 2028 Summer Olympics.
Minister of Sports, Charles Griffith, also offered words of advice to the teams.
