Reliance Jio brings an 'unlimited' offer for you to enjoy IPL for free
@Source: indiatimes.com
Reliance Jio has introduced a set of offers for both existing and new customers, providing free JioHotstar subscriptions and high-speed internet as the company seeks to capitalise on the Indian Premier League's widespread appeal. The tournament draws in crores of viewers each match, making it a prime opportunity for the telecom giant. With just a Jio SIM and a plan of Rs. 299 or above, customers can experience the ultimate cricketing season like never before, Reliance Jio said in a statement.Customers who opt for the offer will receive a 90-day free JioHotstar subscription, allowing them to watch every match of the season in 4K resolution, either on a home TV or a mobile device. Additionally, the company is offering a 50-day free trial of JioFiber or JioAirFiber, which includes ultra-fast internet along with access to over 800 television channels, more than 11 OTT applications, and unlimited WiFi.In November 2024, Reliance Industries Limited, Viacom18 Media Private Limited, and The Walt Disney Company had announced the completion of mega merger of Viacom18's media and JioCinema businesses into Star India Private Limited. Asia's richest Mukesh Ambani-owned Reliance Jio's latest offer is a strategic move coinciding with the latest season of one of the world's most-watched sports league IPL. Reliance is spreading its clout around the league with the group not only owning a team in the cash-rich IPL, but also owning the media rights to stream and broadcast the tournament on its platforms and TV channels where it owns significant stake and via Internet data that the company is selling with Jio SIM and home internet packages. To avail of these offers, users must recharge or obtain a new Jio SIM between 17 and 31 March 2025. Existing customers can qualify by recharging with a plan of Rs. 299 or more, while new customers need to acquire a Jio SIM and activate a plan of Rs. 299 or above. Those who have already recharged before 17 March can opt for a Rs. 100 add-on pack.Given the massive popularity of IPL in cricket-crazy India, Reliance Jio may look to sell more SIMs to new users and thus cut user base for its rivals Airtel and Vodafone Idea. The offer may now also push existing users to either go for higher recharge value or non-active users to now recharge their Jio subscriptions. The JioHotstar subscription will be activated on 22 March, the opening day of the IPL, and will remain valid for 90 days.
