Sloclap took a big turn for its latest title, going from the martial arts revenge-fueled roguelike of Sifu to a pure sports romp like Rematch. However, the move appears to have paid off for the Paris-based developer in a big way, as it announced on Tuesday that Rematch has already reached 3 million unique players. That comes less than a week since the game's official launch and in the wake of some early growing pains.
Rematch has officially reached 3M unique players! For those keeping score, that's - 11.8M matches played - 55.6M goals scored - 33.5M assists - 69.1M saves This is just the beginning. Thank you for being with us, in and out of the pitch! #rematch[image or embed]

Sloclap made the announcement on the official Rematch Bluesky Social account. The developer also cited several other stats, including 11.8 million matches played, 55.6 million goals scored, 33.5 million assists, and 69.1 million saves.
Rematch first launched less than a week ago on Thursday, June 19 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S, including Xbox Game Pass subscribers. The game's focus on skill-based arcade-style soccer, where all users control a single player, has resonated with audiences, especially those who liked what they saw from its open beta. The game's launch wasn't an especially smooth one, as it was originally set to release with cross-platform play before hitting some technical difficulties just before release. Online performance hasn't been the best, either, with some players experiencing lag, desynchronization issues, and even some freezes and crashes. Rematch's developers addressed this in a Steam post on the game's release date and is currently working on solutions. A small patch addressing a frequent crash and a sleep mode bug went live earlier today with additional patches expected in the future.
The challenges of a live service game releasing into the wild require additional time for a proper evaluation, which is why Shacknews' Rematch review isn't available just yet. Expect to see a full review down the road. In the meantime, Rematch is available now for anyone who wants to join the 3 million players already taking the pitch.
