Liverpool are reportedly in a strong position to sign Bayer Leverkusen's Jeremie Frimpong, with Real Madrid no longer pursuing the player.

Why Liverpool reportedly want Frimpong
Frimpong's attacking prowess from the right wing-back position has attracted attention, and Arne Slot’s side are keen to secure his services.
As reported by Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Real Madrid, who were also linked with Frimpong, are now focusing on signing Trent Alexander-Arnold.
There have been concerns within Real Madrid about Frimpong's ability to adapt to a back-four formation, thus opening the door for Liverpool to sign him.
The Reds are said to be keen on a full-back overhaul, with Andy Robertson's influence decreasing and Alexander-Arnold linked with a move to Los Blancos, and the reported interest in Frimpong would provide a significant boost to Liverpool's defensive options.
What next for Liverpool?
The Reds return to action on April 2 when they host Everton in the Premier League.
