India’s wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant has shared his enthusiasm for the upcoming five-Test series against England by posting a picture of himself wearing a Test jersey on social media. Pant took to X and shared his picture in Test whites with the caption, “Reporting for national duty.” Check it out here: Reporting for national duty. ✌️???#RP17 pic.twitter.com/LTUT0sNjSJ — Rishabh Pant (@RishabhPant17) June 12, 2025 Having made his Test debut in England in 2018, Pant has played 12 matches against them, amassing 781 runs, with a highest score of 146 achieved in Birmingham in 2022. Out of these 12 games, nine were on English soil, where he scored 556 runs at an average of 32.70. However, Pant faced challenges during India’s last Test series in Australia for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. In Australia, he played all five Tests, scoring 255 runs at an average of 28.33, including just one half-century. Team India arrived in the UK on June 7 and immediately began intense training sessions to prepare for the five-Test series, which marks the beginning of the 2025-27 ICC World Test Championship (WTC) cycle for both teams. This series also heralds a new chapter for Indian cricket, following the Test retirements of stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. Under the leadership of Shubman Gill, India will face England in the first Test of the series at Headingley Cricket Ground starting from June 20. The second Test will take place at Edgbaston from July 2, while the third Test will be held at the iconic Lord’s starting on July 10. Both teams will then travel to Manchester for the fourth Test at Old Trafford from July 23, before concluding the series at the Kennington Oval in London starting on July 31. India is aiming to win a Test series in England for the first time since 2007. (with IANS inputs)
