@Source: dailypost.vu
The Reserve Bank of Vanuatu (RBV) is currently hosting a 'Wan Solwora' meeting with its regional counterparts—the Central Bank of Solomon Islands and the Bank of Papua New Guinea. In addition to official discussions, the programme also includes sporting competitions among staff of the participating banks. The RBV netball team is being coached by Vanuatu Netball Association (VNA) Development Officer Marralyn Smith. Speaking to Daily Post Sports, player Betty Williams explained that the meeting brings together staff from the central (regulatory) banks of the three countries to discuss common challenges and economic developments in the region. She said the sports included in the tournament are futsal, beach volleyball, touch rugby, and netball. The sports program begins with netball matches kicking off at 9am at the Vanuatu Netball Center at Stade. The games will run through until Friday. Williams added that on Independence Day, staff from the visiting banks will join RBV staff at Independence Park to celebrate Vanuatu’s independence. She also noted that in the past, the RBV staff netball team—then known as Reserve Bank Amaru—competed in the Shefa Netball Association (ShefNA) Grade B League but has not taken part in the past two seasons. Williams hopes that this tournament will motivate the team to return to ShefNA competition next season.
