Abhinav Bindra, India’s first individual Olympic gold medallist & Founder, Abhinav Bindra Foundation, will be among the star-studded list of speakers at the Rising Bharat Summit 2025, the fifth edition of the CNN-News18 marquee leadership conclave, to be held in New Delhi on 8–9 April. Born on 28 September 1982 in Dehradun, Bindra developed an early passion for shooting, inspired by athletes he saw on television. At just 15, he represented India at the 1998 Commonwealth Games, marking the beginning of a remarkable sporting journey. He made his Olympic debut at the 2000 Sydney Games as India’s youngest participant. Bindra’s dedication culminated in his historic victory at the 2008 Beijing Olympics, where he clinched gold in the men’s 10m air rifle event, becoming the nation’s first individual Olympic champion. Beyond the Olympics, he secured multiple medals at the Commonwealth and Asian Games, including a gold at the 2006 ISSF World Championships, making him the first Indian shooter to win a World Championship gold. After retiring from competitive shooting, Bindra transitioned into entrepreneurship and philanthropy. He established the Abhinav Bindra Foundation, aiming to advance sports science and promote excellence among Indian athletes. Bindra was appointed an International Olympic Committee (IOC) Mental Health Ambassador in May 2023. His commitment to the Olympic movement was recognised in 2024 when he was awarded the Olympic Order, the highest honour bestowed by the IOC.
