It is the fourth year that the Aer Lingus College Football Classic has brought the game to Ireland, which this time around will see Kansas State and Iowa State taking to the field. The game kicks off at 5pm and it’s expected that around 24,000 international fans will make the journey for the event. There are still tickets available on Ticketmaster. Gardaí have reminded people to only purchase tickets from recognised sources and to refrain from buying tickets from ticket touts prior to the match as these tickets may have been stolen. While a number of roads around the Aviva Stadium will close to traffic on Saturday, Dame Street will not close this year. Last year, ESPN broadcast its pre-game show live from the streets of College Green, Dame Street. Cheerleaders from Kansas State and Iowa State perform outside City Hall during the official welcome receptionRollingNews.ie RollingNews.ie As with all events at the Aviva Stadium, a Garda Cordon will be in effect on the streets that lead to the Stadium and only accredited vehicles will be permitted to pass by this cordon. Advertisement Local residents, their immediate families, and the local business community will be facilitated at the barriers with proof of address. However, proof of address does not guarantee entry through the cordon when there are high numbers of pedestrians. The following roads will be closed to through traffic from 12.45pm on Saturday: Lansdowne Park Lansdowne Lane Lansdowne Road from Shelbourne Road to Herbert Bridge Herbert Road Newbridge Avenue Bath Avenue Londonbridge Road Meanwhile, these roads will close to through traffic from 3pm: The remainder of Lansdowne Road from Shelbourne Road to Pembroke Road Shelbourne Road Beatty’s Avenue Ballsbridge Avenue During the hours of operation of the Garda Cordon, vehicles, bicycles, skips, bins or any other items which are causing an obstruction or which may become a trip hazard will be relocated or removed. Meanwhile, parking will be restricted and Garda No-Parking cones will be placed on roads around the stadium and gardaí say illegal parking, particularly in Lansdowne Park, will not be tolerated. Gardaí add that tow wagons will be in operation during the event and offending vehicles will be removed. People are asked to use public transport as much as possible. There are 100 disabled parking spaces in the Aviva Stadium car park which can only be accessed from Herbert Road. Patrons using this facility should be in the stadium from at least 3pm or admittance cannot be guaranteed. Meanwhile, those attending are encouraged to be in their seats by 4.15pm to enjoy the full pre-game spectacle. Readers like you are keeping these stories free for everyone...
