Rocket Classic Has Flurry of PGA Tour Withdrawals, Shaking up the Field
@Source: newsweek.com
The Rocket Classic field will feature only two players from the top 10 in the world rankings, and only five from the top 20. To top it all off, six players have withdrawn from the tournament with four days left until the tee-off.The most notable case is that of World No. 64 and one-time PGA Tour winner Kevin Yu, who announced his withdrawal on Monday. An expected case was that of Eric Cole, who even failed to finish the Travelers Championship the week before.These are the players who have withdrawn from the Rocket Classic and those who have taken their places in the field:
Christiaan Bezuidenhout WD / Braden Thornberry IN
Tim Widing WD / Paul Waring IN
Eric Cole WD / Harrison Endycott IN on his own number
Kevin Yu WD / Anders Albertson IN on his own number
Brandon Matthews WD / David Ford IN
Charley Hoffman WD/Hayden Springer IN
World No. 5 Collin Morikawa leads the field at Detroit Golf Club, with Keegan Bradley (8th) as the second best ranked golfer. Bradley will be showing off his newly earned return to the world top 10 after winning at TPC River Highlands last week.Another player who will be turning heads in Detroit is Ben Griffin, ranked 6th in the FedEx Cup, thanks in large part to his two wins and four top-15 finishes in the last eight weeks.2025 Rocket Classic Betting OddsDue to the small number of top players in the field and the high number of withdrawals, sportsbooks predict a fierce battle for the Rocket Classic title.Below are the betting odds according to FanDuel (top 20 only):
