This weekend, Rod Fergesson announced his departure from Blizzard and its parent company, Microsoft. The industry veteran most known for being one of the lead creative voices behind the Gears of War series joined the World of Warcraft studio in 2020 and managed the development of Diablo 4.
Rod Fergesson made a post on X on Friday to confirm that he has left Blizzard and Microsoft.
Fergesson’s career actually began at Microsoft back in the 90s, before he eventually moved to Epic Games and produced the first Gears of War game. He stayed with the series, working on all of its sequels, up until Gears 5 in 2019. He joined Blizzard in 2020, and worked on three Diablo titles during his tenure: Diablo 2: Resurrected, Diablo Immortal, and Diablo 4.
Back in April, Fergusson said in an interview that he had a 10-year roadmap for future content in Diablo 4.
