Sir Rod Stewart has cancelled another date of his Las Vegas residency under doctor’s orders.
The rock veteran, 80, had been due to take to the stage on June 5 at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace and has yet to confirm a new date.
Sharing the health update on Instagram Stories on Wednesday, the Maggie May singer wrote: “I'm awfully sorry to have to cancel my show June 5th at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace.
“My doctor ordered a bit more rest while I recover from the flu. Thanks for your love and understanding.”
Sir Rod was previously forced to reschedule another Las Vegas gig on Monday due to the illness, with a new date set for June 10.
Last month, he was spotted wearing a sign after his Milan concert that read: “Sorry. Cannot talk. Having vocal rest,” a clear sign of the toll the tour is taking.
He returned to the stage three days later in Lisbon, showing he’s ready to keep going — but he has confirmed this year’s European and North American dates will be his last big-scale tours.
Still, he is adamant that retirement is not on the cards.
He told his 1.5m followers of his future career plans: “This will be the end of large-scale world tours for me, but I have no desire to retire.
“I love what I do, and I do what I love. 'I'm fit, have a full head of hair, and can run 100 metres in 18 seconds at the jolly old age of 79.
“I'd like to move onto a Great American Songbook, Swing Fever tour the year after next – smaller venues and more intimacy. But then again, I may not...”
In less than a month, he due to appear in the Sunday legends slot at Glastonbury Festival in Somerset.
During his performance, a mini-reunion with his band Faces is expected with Sir Rod revealing in November that he had reunited with his his old bandmates for a new album.
Speaking on the Soccer A-Z podcast, he said: “I'm meeting up with the last two members of the Faces tomorrow, and we're working on a documentary, because next year will be our 50th anniversary, or 60s.
“I don't know what it is, but when the faces were together, and we're trying to put out an album. So I shall be with Mr. Woods and Mr. Jones.”
