Rahul Dravid was the head coach of the Indian men’s cricket team when Rohit Sharma led the Men in Blue in all three formats of the game from November 2021 to June 2024. During that period the two shared a very good bond together and also helped India win the T20 World Cup 2024 along with reaching the final of the 2023 WTC final and the 2023 ODI World Cup. But in a recent interview, Rohit admits to having clashes with Dravid on team selection. “Rahul bhai aur mera itna understanding ho gaya tha ek time ke baad ki utna pata hai ki ye (Rohit) ye kyu kar raha hai, aur mujhe bhi ye pata chal gaya tha ki Rahul bhai agar mujhko ye puchenge bhi, toh mujhe pata hai ki kyu puch rahe hai aur jo ki sahi cheej hai, puchna bhi chahiye. Mujhe ye nahi karna tha ki ye meri team hai; jo karunga mai he karunga, aur aisa kaam maine kabhi kiya bhi nahi hai.” On being asked if he ever had disagreements with Dravid, Rohit said, “It has happened, strongly (disagreement). It has happened many times and there is nothing wrong in it. Why shouldn’t there be an argument? I believe that where there is no argument, there is something wrong.” There should be an argument, there should definitely be because your point of view and my point of view are completely different, that is why this world is so unique because all the people here are different and their thinking is different. If your thinking is different then it does not mean that you are a wrong person, it is your thinking and I respect that. But the responsibility on the ground is mine; I have to run the team.
