Rohit Sharma is famous for his forgetful nature and in a recent chat with Harbhajan Singh recounted a humorous incident when he forgot what to had to choose after winning the toss.
Rohit narrated a story from the 2013 Champions League, when he was captaining Mumbai Indians (MI) as a young captain.
During a chat with Harbhajan on a YouTube show, “Who is the Boss”, Rohit Sharma revealed that MI’s think tank had decided during the team meeting to bowl if they won the toss. However, after winning the toss, he opted to bat first.
Anil Kumble, the team’s mentor at the time, was a bit frustrated with Rohit’s decision and asked him about his decision at the toss. Rohit told him that the pitch looked good, and hence his reason to bat first.
Rohit was ultimately proven right as the Mumbai Indians went on to eventually clinch victory.
What Rohit Sharma Said About Him Forgetting At Toss
“This is an incident from the 2013 Champions League. We won the toss. We had decided to field first, but I won the toss and batted first. Anil bhai asked ‘What did you do Rohit? ‘ I told him, ‘Anil bhai, I thought the pitch was good so I thought of batting first but I had forgotten and said it wrong at the toss. We won the match,” Rohit recounted.

MI’s Rare Feat In 2023 Under Rohit’s Captaincy
In 2013, Mumbai Indians (MI) achieved a rare feat by winning both the Indian Premier League (IPL) and the Champions League T20 in the same year, something that has only been done by Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in 2010.
Rohit Sharma, who took over MI’s captaincy mid-season from Ricky Ponting, had led the MI team to their first IPL title in his debut season as skipper.
Later that same year, MI defeated the Rajasthan Royals in an all-Indian Champions League final held in Delhi. This match was especially significant as it marked the final professional appearances of cricket legends Rahul Dravid and Sachin Tendulkar in the T20 format.
