@Source: newsweek.com
Rory McIlroy tied for fifth at the Texas Children's Houston Open as he closed the tournament with a 6-under 64 to get to 15-under on the week. The PGA Tour veteran finished five shots behind the winner, Min Woo Lee.Even though he did have a successful week, he put some doubt into the fans' minds. Following his final round, McIlroy revealed to NBC analyst Kira K. Dixon he had some right elbow discomfort."Get some treatment on that, and make sure that that's OK going into Augusta," McIlroy said.He did not describe his discomfort with his right elbow in detail, but nonetheless, he dropped that little tidbit of information.The Northern Irishman did not appear to be in pain this week at the Houston Open. So, it will be interesting to see if it affects McIlroy at Augusta National or if it is just a minor ailment.The 35-year-old posted his best round Sunday as he went lower each of the four days of play. He went 70-66-65-64 in Houston.McIlroy had to fight to make the cut, but making three birdies in his final four holes got him a tee time on Saturday.He has not missed a cut this year.After posting a 65 on Saturday, the four-time major winner said he made a tweak with his driver and felt like it helped Sunday."I just took a little bit of loft off it," he explained. "I felt like it was getting a little bit spinny, especially if I wanted to hit cuts off the tee, so I took a little bit of loft off it. Yeah, went through the wind better today and felt a little more comfortable."McIlroy has two wins on the PGA Tour this season at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am and the PLAYERS Championship.He has played in five events this year, and his worst finish was T17 at the Genesis Invitational. McIlroy still does not feel 100% in control of his game, but he does appear confident in the work he has put in so far."How I manage my game, how I manage my misses. I think my short game's been very good, and I've been able to scramble well when I've needed to," McIlroy said."My ability to hit little knockdown shots. There's been quite a lot of wind when we've played, so my ability to hit those little three-quarter shots is better than it has been, and that's been a big factor to why I've performed pretty consistently."Now he will have an off week to prepare for Augusta National and another attempt at the career grand slam.Hopefully the elbow issue is a non-starter.More Golf: Tiger Woods' TGL League Shows Promise for Golf Future as Season 1 Comes To A Close
