Royal Challengers Bangalore Trolled Over This Smartphone Partnership In IPL 2025, Here's Why
@Source: news18.com
Royal Challengers Bangalore are one of the most-followed franchises in the Indian Premier League and there is no dearth of brands confidently backing the Rajat Patidar-led side. Studded with stars such as Virat Kohli, Chris Gayle, AB de Villiers, Jacques Kallis, Glenn Maxwell that have graced the RCB dressing room, the franchise, in the world’s richest cricket league, pulls in huge numbers of fans both on and off the field. Having a cult-like following backing them and showing up for every contest without fail, even RCB’s loyal fanbase couldn’t help but chuckle a bit when the team announced their official smartphone partner.
Founded 4 years ago, the smartphone and electronics manufacturing company Nothing is based in London. It was conceived by Carl Pei. The same Pei who famously co-founded Chinese smartphone maker OnePlus. His banters with the desis and visits to India have made him a popular figure on this side of the Internet.

Just after the launch of their new smartphones Nothing Phone 3a, Phone 3a Pro in India, the tech company announced their penetration in the on-going IPL 2025. Backing Royal Challengers Bangalore, Nothing’s official ‘X’ handle wrote: “The perfect partnership doesn’t exi…” The poster included Virat Kohli, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, and Liam Livingstone posing for the smartphone brand.

‘Obvious Joke’
The unlikely collab between Nothing and RCB made IPL fans connect the invisible dots. Was that a deliberate partnership or a hilarious accident? Whatever the case, it was a genius move by Nothing as the collab grabbed plenty eyeballs and generated considerable social media chatter.
“Out of all of them, imagine choosing RCB,” wrote one.
“King recognising King,” responded another to Nothing’s ‘X’ post.
“Alt title : How many trophies did they win?”
“Nothing about to make something of RCB’s trophy cabinet.”
“Partnership that shows your IPL trophy cabinet.”
Royal Challengers Bangalore Trophy – Nothing
Despite being the OGs of the Indian Premier League, Royal Challengers Bangalore’s trophy cabinet has… Nothing. RCB have appeared in all the seasons of the cash-rich league but are yet to lift their maiden title.

RCB hold the record for entering most number of IPL finals without ever winning it. The Royal Challengers Bangalore lost their first final to Deccan Chargers back in 2009. In their second appearance in the final, Chennai Super Kings emerged as the winners. They booked a berth in final in 2016 for a third time. Sunrisers Hyderabad snatched the victory and RCB’s first title hopes from them. Interestingly, whenever RCB won 5 consecutive matches, they made it to an IPL final. Will RCB repeat the unique stat this season? We will have to wait and watch!
Will RCB Lift IPL 2025 Trophy?
“Play the best 11 according to form and a lot more,” ex-India coach and former pacer Venkatesh Prasad wrote on ‘X’ when asked by a fan about what RCB needed to do to win their maiden cup.

“I think that once RCB wins their first trophy, it wouldn’t surprise me if they go on to win two or three relatively quickly, because of the structures there. It’s a very, very well-run franchise. But sometimes you can try too hard and you can be too desperate for that elusive prize. So once you win one, you might relax a little bit and let things unfold,” Mike Hesson, former Director of Cricket Operations in RCB camp, told News18 CricketNext.
Meanwhile, RCB kicked-off the IPL 2025 campaign with a comfortable victory over Kolkata Knight Riders. Chasing a target of 175 runs put up by KKR on the board, RCB reached the victory line with 7 wickets and 22 deliveries to spare. Fifties from both openers Phil Salt (56) and Virat Kohli (59) laid a solid foundation in RCB’s run chase. Skipper Rajat Patidar and Liam Livingstone played handy knocks in what eventually turned out to a one-sided affair.
RCB will meet Chennai Super Kings next at the M. A. Chidambaram Stadium on Thursday.
