The Rancho Santa Fe Association board’s spring election season is underway, with a chance for the community to hear the four candidates’ takes on local issues at the annual meeting on Thursday, May 8. The candidate forum will be held at 5 p.m. at the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club, followed by a social hour with neighbors. The forum will feature the four candidates vying for three spots on the board: Steve Games, Courtney LeBeau, Joanne Marks and Courtney Silberberg. “Please vote in our elections, they’re so important,” RSF Association Chief Administrative Officer Dominique Albrecht told residents at the April board meeting. Flyers to be mailed to all Covenant homeowners offered a peek into the candidates’ bios and goals. Steve Games has lived and worked in Rancho Santa Fe for decades. He boasts a long career in real estate, founding Prudential California which was sold to Warren Buffett, and he formerly served as the CEO of Pacific Sotheby’s International Realty. “I am running to preserve and enhance the unique character of our community,” Games said in his mailer. “With my extensive experience in business, finance and marketing, I’ll work tirelessly to tackle our challenges and uphold our quality of life and property values.” Courtney LeBeau, the current president of the RSF Association board, will be seeking her second term while Director Scott Thurman and Treasurer Phil Trubey will be vacating their board seats. LeBeau is a 21-year resident of the Ranch with past experience serving on the Rancho Riding Club and Rancho Santa Fe Tennis Club boards. During her first term she helped tackle public safety, fire mitigation and capital projects. “This is the first time in years that I can say we have accomplished most of our strategic goals,” LeBeau wrote. “Our staff has never been stronger, and I look forward to working with them and our incredible board for three more years.” Since moving to Rancho Santa Fe in 2013, candidate Joanne Marks has gotten involved by serving on the RSF Association’s infrastructure committee. She has past experience serving on the Rancho Santa Fe Vista HOA board in Carlsbad and is out in the community enjoying the trails, playing pickleball and golf. Marks is also involved in the Rancho Santa Fe Women’s Fund. “Rancho Santa Fe is a unique collection of intelligent, creative and active residents,” Marks said in her flyer. “Collaboratively, we can ensure our distinctions will be stewarded to increase its appeal for generations to come. I am volunteering my time, experience and dedication to drive initiatives that continue to improve our community.” Courtney Silberberg has volunteered his time with the RSF Association for the last two years, serving on the audit and finance committee. A permanent resident of the Ranch for four years now, he said serving on the committee has kept him well-versed on large projects impacting the community such as the restaurant renovation, the golf club parking lot renovation, and the expansion of the tennis club. “I understand what ‘protect the castle’ means, while enhancing your asset base,” Silberberg wrote. “The ‘castle’ to me are the amenities, privileges and history Rancho embodies…We have a standard all of us have worked hard for I want to maintain.” While the candidate forum and social hour will be held at night on May 8, the board of directors will handle its regular business at 10 a.m. at the RSF Association offices. Ballots will be mailed following the candidate forum and votes are due back by June 9.
