Tom Brady was a surprise guest on the Late Late Show season finale as he sat down with Patrick Kielty to chat about his trip to Ireland, which left RTE viewers 'amazed'.
News broke earlier today that the legendary NFL player would arrive in the studio for an interview after carving out some time while spending a few days conducting business and playing golf at the Emerald Isle.
Brady, who has won a record seven Super Bowl rings, retired from the sport in 2022 and has now carved out a successful business and broadcasting career.
It is not the first time that Brady has been in Ireland, as he revealed he visited with his father back in 2003.
"I'm 50 percent [Irish] but trending. The more visits I take here, the more Irish I'm becoming.
"This has been an awesome trip. I was here 22 years ago with my Dad for a Father-Son golf trip, and I haven't been back since. Coming back and bringing all the good weather from the States, I'm going to bring more of that when I come."
Brady told host Patrick Kielty that he has played rounds of golf at Royal County Down, Royal Portrush, and Portmarnock and will also play two more rounds tomorrow, but did not disclose the location to avoid fanfare.
However, he did hint he could return to Ireland to broadcast the NFL game taking place in Croke Park if it is chosen to be broadcast on Fox Sports.
"You're going to see the greatest athletes in America battling it out. Hopefully, that game will be on Fox, and I can come over and broadcast it. That would be a dream come true," Brady told The Late Late Show.
Close pals with Rory McIlroy, Brady also spoke of his happiness seeing the Northern Irishman get over the line at Augusta National last month.
"Rory kicks my butt every time we play obviously. Seeing him achieve that after all he's gone through in golf and overcoming them struggles.
"I'm sure he appreciated that win over more than any other win in his life because of how hard it was, not because of how easy it was. He could have won it 14 years ago and it would have been great then but I think you cherish it more now because you have that perspectiof what it's like when you don't win or when you come close and that get it.
"For all of us, the worst things that happen in life end up being the best things if you take the right attitude. I've had a lot of failures in my life, and when you overcome them, you look back and say, "I'm so happy I went through that because without failing, I wouldn't appreciate the winning as much."
RTE viewers were left impressed with Brady after the interview and were 'amazed' that he decided to come onto the show.
'Amazed to see Tom Brady on the Late Late. Unexpected Friday viewing!' said one social media user.
'Tom Brady, top class,' said another.
'Could listen to Tom Brady all day. Brilliant speaker,' said another.
