The Rugby League Federation Ghana (RLFG) has announced a partnership with the Futurestars Charity, aimed at providing opportunities for underprivileged children in Ghana through education and sports.
The two organisations have signed an agreement to offer scholarships, mentorship and sports opportunities to children who play rugby league with RLFG and those in Futurestars Charity partner schools.
Through this innovative partnership, students will receive comprehensive support, including school fees, uniforms, books, and meals, as well as guidance and mentorship to help them excel in both academics and sports.
The partnership has already yielded a remarkable success story, with John Boyd being selected as the first recipient of a Futurestars Charity scholarship through rugby league.
Simon Militon, Director of Futurestars Charity, expressed his enthusiasm for the partnership, stating that it will help children reach their full potential in both the classroom and on the rugby field.
“At Futurestars Charity, we believe that education and sports go hand in hand. This partnership with RLFG will help children reach their full potential both in the classroom and on the rugby field. We are very happy to support John Boyd and many more children in the future,” said Simon Militon.
The RLFG and Futurestars Charity will work together to provide a holistic support system for the students, ensuring they receive the best possible guidance and resources to succeed. Futurestars Charity will provide scholarships covering essential expenses, while RLFG will train and mentor the students in rugby league, giving them valuable opportunities in the sport.
John Boyd’s mother, Victoria Boye, was overjoyed and grateful for the opportunity, saying, “This is a dream come true for my son. As a mother, I have always wanted him to do well in school, but things have not been easy. Now, with this scholarship, he can continue his education and still play the sport he loves. I am so grateful to Futurestars Charity and RLFG for giving him this chance.”
Jafaru Awudu Mustapha, RLFG General Manager, emphasised the significance of the partnership, noting that it will provide talented children with the education they deserve while nurturing their growth in the sport. “We are happy to work with Futurestars Charity to help young rugby players. This partnership will make sure talented children get the education they deserve while growing in the sport.”
This collaborative effort between RLFG and Futurestars Charity is poised to make a lasting impact on the lives of underprivileged children in Ghana, providing them with the tools and opportunities needed to succeed in both academics and sports.
