Indian cricket great Sachin Tendulkar was honoured at the Lord's Cricket Ground by a stunning gesture by the Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) before the start of play in the third Test between India and England in the ongoing five-match series on Thursday (July 10). Just before play began at Lord's, Sachin rang the iconic five-minute bell. For those unversed, the bell is located outside the bowler's bar of the Pavilion. The management of the MCC usually calls a legend to ring the bell. The bell is rung five minutes before the start of play on all five days of the match. In recent days, the same tradition has been incorporated at the famous Eden Gardens in Kolkata too. Sachin Tendulkar Honoured At MCC Museum Earlier in the day, Sachin was given the ultimate honour at the famous MCC Museum, which is present at the Lord's ground in the famous Long Room. The 200-Test veteran unveiled a special portrait of himself made by artist Stuart Pearson Wright. Reflecting on the special gesture, Tendulkar recalled visiting the ground for the first time at the age of 15 in 1988 and called it a full circle journey for him. "I first visited Lord’s as a teenager in 1988, and returned in 1989 with the Star Cricket Club team. I remember standing near the pavilion, soaking in the history and dreaming quietly. Today, to have my portrait unveiled at this very place is a feeling that’s hard to put into words. Life has truly come full circle. I’m grateful, and filled with wonderful memories. "India and England are playing the Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, which is named after Sachin and England cricket legend James Anderson. The duo are the most capped player in Test cricket history as Sachin played 200 Test matches for India while Anderson featured in 188 red-ball international games for England," wrote Tendulkar on X. This is the inaugural edition of the trophy, which has replaced the Pataudi and Antony de Mello Trophy, which were retired. Talking about the match, England won the toss and chose to bat. This is the third consecutive time in the series that the luck of coin fell in Stokes' favour. On the previous two instances, he had chosen to bowl first.
