Sanjay Manjrekar has taken the internet by storm by posting a photo with a Team India jersey of Ravindra Jadeja.
The former India cricketer is currently commentating in the Indian Premier League (IPL) as part of a star-studded panel. Finding time from his on-air assignments, Manjrekar visited an Adidas store and posed with an Indian jersey featuring the name of Jadeja and his iconic number 8 on the back.
The cricketer-turned-pundit dropped the picture on Instagram with the caption – ‘Sporting No. 8 with a smile.’
The post might remind fans of a controversial incident from 2019 when Manjrekar criticized Jadeja for his performance in the ODI format. The ex-India batter claimed that Jadeja was not a complete all-rounder who should contribute equally with his batting and bowling. He faced severe backlash for his blunt remarks.

‘I am not a big fan of bits-and-pieces players, which Jadeja is at this point of his career in 50-over cricket. In Test matches, he is a pure bowler. But in 50-over cricket, I would rather have a batsman and a spinner,” Manjrekar said on live TV.
Jadeja was prompt in his reply, expressing his displeasure via a social media post. ‘Still have played twice the number of matches you have played and I’m still playing. Learn to respect people who have achieved. I have heard enough of your verbal diarrhea, Sanjay Manjrekar,” the southpaw wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Manjrekar took his words back after Jadeja’s brilliant all-round show in the 2019 ODI World Cup semi-final against New Zealand. “Bits and pieces he just ripped me apart today. By bits and pieces of sheer brilliance just proved me wrong on all fronts. But this Ravindra Jadeja we have not seen very often,” the 59-year-old said on the post-match show.
The incident took a toll on Manjrekar’scommentary career as well. He was banned by the BCCI from featuring in IPL 2020. Manjrekar returned to the panel in the following season after seeking reinstatement from the board.
Meanwhile, Jadeja is currently representing Chennai Super Kings in IPL 2025. He has struck 74 runs in three matches while taking one wicket. He will be seen in action when CSK face Delhi Capitals on Saturday, April 5, in Chennai.
