Sanjeev Goenka was a proud man after Rishabh Pant became only the second wicketkeeper in cricket history to score two hundreds in each innings of a Test match during the series opener against England on Monday.
Sanjeev Goenka took to social media to celebrate Pant on day four of the first Test of their five-match series between India and England at Headingley in Leeds on Monday.
“Two good! Back-to-back centuries for Rishabh Pant. Aggressive, audacious, brilliant. Only the second wicketkeeper in history to score a century in both innings of a Test,” Goenka posted on X, formerly Twitter.

Rishabh Pant’s Record-Breaking Knock
The only other player to achieve this feat – with two hundreds in the same match while playing as a wicket-keeper – was Zimbabwe’s former stumper Andy Flower, who scored 142 and 199 not out against South Africa in Harare in 2001.
On the fourth and penultimate day, Pant scored 118 off 140 balls, becoming the first Indian to score hundreds in both innings of a Test in England. With his magnificent 134 in the first innings, Pant is now the seventh Indian to achieve centuries in both innings of a Test match.
Before him, Sunil Gavaskar accomplished this feat three times, Rahul Dravid twice, and Vijay Hazare, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, and Ajinkya Rahane each did it once in their careers.

Sanjeev Goenka And Rishabh Pant’s Relationship
During the IPL 2025 season, Sanjeev Goenka was noticeably animated as he watched Rishabh Pant fail in consecutive innings.
Goenka had bought the wicketkeeper for INR 27 crore during the mega auction, but Pant did not exactly have the best of seasons.
