Scarey Mother
@Source: theseasidegazette.com
No, it's not about Halloween but rather a football match between eight & nine-year olds in the city of Granada on Friday. A mother of a football player belonging to the Láchar football club was keen on threatening the 13-year-old referee, Aitor B.A., in the match against the Zaidín team. Owing to the violent intentions of the mother, the match was suspended at half time and the referee was escorted off the pitch by the Policía Nacional. And it’s not the first time that this budding ref has faced aggressive parents, so although he loves being a referee, he is seriously considering giving it up, and who can blame him? What had caused all this was when the mother shouted down from the stands, “What the F*** have you got against my boy? If you do anything against him, you’ll soon find out what I will do to you!” she threatened. Afterwards, she jumped the railings when the half-time whistle went and approached the referee as he was nervously making his way to the tunnel, repeating what she had said earlier, according to the lad. Once inside, the referee asked the grounds manager to call the Policía Nacional, who arrived 20 minutes later. After identifying the mother, who was still a walking WMD, the officers explained that they couldn’t hang around until the end of the match and suggested cancelling the second half. The Láchar version of the eventThe Chairman of the Láchar team, José Moyano, said that the mother’s son, who stands out in the team as a good player, was being targeted by opposing players, kicking his legs but the referee did nothing. In fact, when the player complained to him, he sent him off the pitch. The young player then burst into tears, sitting on the bench. “Seeing him like this, the mother approached the referee to ask for explanations but according to our witnesses, she said nothing more (i.e., no threats)” explained the Chairman, adding, “The Láchar Chairman did say, however, “The mother had no right to approach the referee and there will an internal investigation. Editorial comment: as often appears to be the case, it’s the parents of child footballers that cause the most incidents of violence at their football matches.
