Scottie Scheffler's Insane Lucky Break at Masters Has Fans Calling it Destiny
@Source: newsweek.com
Scottie Scheffler had a rather eventful second round at the Masters Tournament 2025. But even though he didn't play his best, he still managed to come away with the best possible result.As it happens, the champion's luck was on his side at a critical moment in the round.It happened on the par-3, 155-yard 12th hole, one of the most famous at Augusta National Golf Club. Scheffler teed off with a pitching wedge shot, but his execution did not go as he had hoped, sending the ball past the green into the native area.The ball literally disappeared for a couple of seconds.It was then that the golf gods smiled on him as the ball rolled back and out of the bushes to lie in the rough 15 yards from the pin.What happened next, however, had nothing to do with luck and everything to do with Scheffler's immense golf skills. The two-time Masters champion chipped in perfectly for one of the most unlikely birdies of the day.The fans couldn't believe their eyes and made it known with their X reactions:"Got lucky coming out of the bushes and pine straw. 3 shot swing," @morsi12hotmail1 said."Turned a double into a birdie. What a break," @gordo12238 posted."He pulled his best Jordan Speith impression!," @CardandCoinShop wrote.Scheffler himself acknowledged his good fortune when he spoke to the press after the round."I've hit it back there before a couple times," he said. "The miss there is technically long, and when you're playing for the wind to be into and it turns around and goes straight down, I mean, it's very challenging.""I was fortunate to see the ball come out of the bushes there and was able to take advantage of the break."Scheffler's second round included six birdies and five bogeys for 1-under. Nevertheless, he remained in contention, sitting in a tie for fifth place with a 36-hole score of 5-under, three shots behind leader Justin Rose.To be fair, Scheffler's 12th hole lucky break was not the only one of the round. Rory McIlroy had a similar outcome on the 12th hole when he also sent his tee shot into the bushes behind the hole and the ball came out. In his case, the Northern Irishman finished the hole with par.Another poor shot with a fortunate outcome was Ludvig Aberg's tee shot on the 10th hole. His shot traveled 318 yards into the trees left of the fairway, and he was so lucky that the ball somehow bounced back onto the shorter grass area. The Swede also made par on this hole.More Golf: Bryson DeChambeau Corrects Report of President Trump Masters Text
