Sea of green in Limerick's county town as St Patrick's celebrations take hold

LIMERICK's county town was turned a sea of bright green on Sunday, as thousands turned out to mark St Patrick's Day. There was live music and fun for little ones and grown-ups alike in Newcastle West, with The Square hosting a fun series of events, including street entertainment, free face painting, and playtime with Bubbles! The parade itself was led by the Newcastle West Fire Brigade Service with its the brand new fire truck. READ MORE: Toe-tapping start to St Patrick's celebrations in Limerick city as bands rock out All the Sports Clubs in town joined the action, as did members of Jamie Herlihy’s School of Performing Arts, SMI Award-winning Junk Couture Designers, West Limerick Resources, Indian Community and Cricket Club. They were joined by the Pike Men and Vikings from Ardagh Heritage Society, The Goats’ Street Goats, the Women’s Shed, the Newcastle West Show and many more. The curtain was brought down on the parade, as is traditional by the Newcastle West Pipe Band.
