Sean Dyche makes feelings clear to Rangers on management return as boss could finally realise derby dream

Out of work Sean Dyche admits he is open to the "right" offer to return to management amid murmurs over a move to Rangers . It comes after the former Everton and Burnley boss left the door open for stepping into the Ibrox hot seat back in 2022. Dyche has been out of work since Goodison Park chiefs decided to wield the axe with the Toffees struggling at the bottom end of the table - just one point above the drop zone. American tycoon Andrew Cavenagh - who is the driving force behind the Rangers takeover - and 49ers Enterprises will have a big call to make over the hot seat in the summer. Barry Ferguson has stepped into the hot seat on an interim basis - and has boosted his chances of landing the job permanently by seeing off Jose Mourinho and Fenerbahce to reach the Europa League quarter-final and beating the Hoops on their own turf. But Dyche has emerged on the rumoured list of candidates to step into the hot seat in the summer alongside the likes of Steven Gerrard , Russell Martin and Rafa Benitez. Asked by Gary Lineker on The Rest is Football if he "wants to get back in" to the game amid murmurs over a switch to the Scottish Premiership: "Yeah, I think so. I don't think immediately. "I think I am OK at the minute, I am catching up with a few life things and enjoying a bit of down time. I am not obsessively watching football. "I am watching my lad, he plays for Northampton, and my daughter ran the Rome marathon - I went to see that, she did amazing; so proud of her. "These things that you can't always get time to do; when we finish I am going for nine holes of golf. "Just a few gigs, a bit of down time, go abroad, a few beers here and there and some media stuff - but when the bug gets you, you know what it's like..." "I don't want to do it (management) forever, I have got other things that I am interested in. I have been offered a lot through the media which is under consideration. "I wouldn't say I am going to do everything, but I am going to touch in with a few things - a bit with talkSPORT; just enjoy it really. "Football wise, I will wait and see what comes round the corner. If it's not right, it's not right. If it is right, then we will see where it goes." The comments come after Dyche previously left the door open to stepping into the Ibrox dugout - before he landed the Everton job. Speaking in 2022, he wouldn't close the door on a move to Ibrox as he admitted that he only had limited time to land a job in the English top flight. He said: "There is a window of opportunity (for the Premier League) and I think I’m still in it. "People say I’ve been out of the game for seven months but when you consider there’s three months of a close season then it’s like four active months. "I’ve got a window of possible opportunity in the Premier League. If it comes my way then brilliant, if not then I’ll have to broaden my horizons. "I do know Ross Wilson at Rangers (now at Nottingham Forest) and if he’d like to invite me to the Old Firm derby – I’ve never been – then he should. I’ve heard so many stories and I’d love to do it. I worked with Ross at Watford.” Could now finally be time to broaden his horizons and look north of the border? It may still take some convincing by the new owners as they weigh up their next permanent boss - but he could finally get a taste of derby day in Glasgow.
