On Saturday August 30, Denia will stage the second edition of Diva Denia Music Pride, this year moving to a new venue in Calle La Vía, chosen to accommodate larger crowds and expanded facilities.
Pride in Denia is not limited to a single date. The Department of Equality and Diversity works year-round on initiatives that promote recognition and respect for diversity in all its forms – countering prejudice and fostering integration, equality and human rights.
Launched last year to great acclaim, Diva Denia Music Pride “positions Denia as a diverse, inclusive and safe municipality, embraces the LGTBI+ community, offers a unique celebration for people and families of all kinds, invites diversity into public spaces and provides an opportunity to enjoy LGTBI+ art, culture and music right here in the Marina Alta,” said Councillor Javier Scotto at the launch of the 2025 edition.
2,000 reusable cups
This year’s celebration has the support of charity association AEHTMA, with all businesses in Calle La Vía decorated in Pride colours and displaying “LGTBIfobia-Free Space” signs. Drinks will be served in 2,000 reusable cups featuring the event’s official image, distributed by the council.
The festivities begin at 7pm with the opening of the LGTBI+ Associations Fair, running until 10pm. Seven groups from Alicante and Valencia provinces have confirmed their attendance, including Diversitat Alacant, Alicante Entiende, DIMOVE (Elche), Vila Diversitat, CLGS LGTBI+ La Safor, Trenca l’armari and Ponts d’Igualtat (Alcoy). Following last year’s success, the fair will expand its family and children’s workshop area.
At 8:30pm, the associations will read the official proclamation and unfurl a 30-metre LGTBI+ flag first displayed in June during Pride Day celebrations.
“Divas Diversas” – Inclusion Zone
For 2025, Diva Denia goes further in accessibility by introducing Divas Diversas, a seating and dance area next to the stage for people with functional and cognitive diversity. There will be a designated drop-off and pick-up zone for adapted vehicles and accessible toilet facilities. The event will also feature a Violet and Rainbow Point to prevent sexual violence and discrimination.
From 7pm, visitors can enjoy a photo call with the gala’s performers and pose with the Wings of Diversity installation. Music kicks off with a DJ set from Picos Pardos Party, followed at 7:30pm by the Casino Royal Dance Show featuring Cristel Rogers and La Villaescusa.
Entertainment Line-Up
The main gala begins at 9pm, presented by Jose Mola and headlined by Pitita, winner of Drag Race España 3. Also performing for the first time in her hometown will be drag queen Violeta Moore, now based in Valencia. They will be joined by Futurachicapop, Michelle Vintage, Cristel Rogers and La Villaescusa, delivering a setlist celebrating diva music from the 1970s to today – a hallmark of Pride Denia’s distinctive style.
The night will close with DJ Luiggi from 10:30pm until midnight.
