If there’s one thing we’ve learned post Pathaan and Jawan, it’s that Shah Rukh Khan isn’t slowing down. He’s back at it again throwing punches (scripted ones, don’t worry) in a jail… all while filming his next biggie, King.
According to a report in Mid-Day, the superstar began shooting a high-octane jail sequence at Mumbai’s Mehboob Studios earlier this week. “The scene is set in a foreign jail, where the protagonist takes on a gang of baddies. Since it forms a critical part of the narrative, Siddharth has flown in three international stunt experts to design the scene. On June 15, the crowd portions were canned with nearly 200 stunt performers,” a source told the publication house. That’s right — 200 stuntmen.
SRK, who reportedly plays a slick assassin in this stylish thriller, has been undergoing rigorous training for weeks. Director Siddharth Anand, fresh off his Pathaan glory, is said to be going for a grittier, more raw version of Shah Rukh this time around.
And while fans might be hoping for a face-off between SRK and King’s villain Abhishek Bachchan, that’s not happening yet. Junior B wasn’t part of this shoot schedule.
Suhana Khan marks her big-screen debut opposite her real-life dad SRK with King. The film is currently filming in Bandra and will wrap this jail sequence by June 21.
King stars Shah Rukh Khan in the titular role as a formidable assassin deeply embedded in the criminal underworld. Meanwhile, recent reports suggest that Deepika Padukone, Rani Mukerji, Arshad Warsi, Abhay Verma, Raghav Juyal and Anil Kapoor have also joined the project in key roles. Suhana will be seen as Shah Rukh’s student, taking training for deadly missions. Reportedly, both SRK and Suhana have undergone intense physical training for the film. Anil Kapoor has come on board to play Shah Rukh Khan’s handler and mentor in the film. Anil’s character will guide him through a gritty world of espionage and high-stakes action.
The makers have also roped in international action directors to make sure the stunts are nothing short of epic.
The film is targeting a release window between October and December 2026, and will be shot over 100 days across multiple locations. On the musical front, Sachin–Jigar are scoring the songs while Anirudh will handle the background score.
