Congress MP Shashi Tharoor accepted the Indian government’s invitation to lead an all-party delegation to key international capitals. The delegations will present India’s stance on terrorism originating from Pakistan to the international community as the Prime Minister Modi-led BJP government launches a significant global outreach initiative following Operation Sindoor.
Shashi Tharoor- who is also the head of parliamentary panel on foreign affairs in India- expressed his acceptance of the responsibility, saying, “I am honoured by the invitation of the government of India to lead an all-party delegation to five key capitals, to present our nation’s point of view on recent events.”

PM Modi’s Global Outreach Plan After Operation Sindoor
A seven-member all-party delegation will commence a 10-day diplomatic mission on May 23, with planned visits to Washington, London, Abu Dhabi, Pretoria, and Tokyo. The team’s agenda includes presenting India’s zero tolerance stance on terrorism and providing updates on Operation Sindoor, the military response to the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that resulted in 26 fatalities.
Shashi Tharoor At Odds With Congress?
Shashi Tharoor’s appointment to lead the delegation comes amidst internal Congress party tensions. His public endorsement of the government’s military response garnered approval from the ruling party while sparking dissent within his own. Shashi Tharoor’s assertion that the government acted with restraint and precision contradicts the Congress Party’s official stance which criticized the PM Modi government for its lack of transparency concerning the ceasefire agreement and questioned the US’ mediating role.
Congress leader Jairam Ramesh, in a recent press briefing, clarified the party’s position, stating, “It is his opinion. When Tharoor saab speaks, it is not the party’s opinion,” distancing the party from Shashi Tharoor’s remarks.
