The South Delhi Superstarz Women’s team has made history by winning the Delhi Premier League Women’s title, showing a campaign marked by consistency, determination and focus. Owned by former India cricketer Shikhar Dhawan through his Da One Sports initiative, the team has been dedicated to promoting grassroots sports and offering a platform for emerging athletes. This title triumph is a significant achievement for both the franchise and the broader vision of nurturing and empowering grassroots talent. Celebrating the victory over the Central Delhi Queens, Dhawan posted a heartfelt message on Instagram: “Delhi has new champions! South Delhi Superstarz Women’s Team. Consistent, focused & deserving winners of the Delhi Premier League.” The Superstarz Women demonstrated dominance throughout the tournament with disciplined bowling and fearless batting. Their journey to the title highlights their hard work and dedication, along with the support framework that Da One Sports has been building for women’s cricket. This win against Central Delhi not just sees the South Delhi Superstarz Women lifting the Delhi Premier League trophy but inspires the next generation of women cricketers in the city to pursue their dreams with confidence and passion as well. South Delhi brushed aside the disappointment of losing last year’s summit clash as they edged out Central Delhi by a solitary run to win the Women’s Delhi Premier League title. Chasing 122 for a win against South Delhi, the Queens were under pressure right from the beginning and managed 120/8 at the end of the 20 overs Sunday night. They lost early wickets and were soon pegged back further when rain interrupted play. Once the match resumed, their chase never gathered full momentum. Reduced to 74/5, the contest seemed slipping away before Monika (33 off 28 balls) and Riya Shokeen, who scored 28 not out off 28 deliveries, revived hopes with a fighting 33-run stand for the sixth wicket.
