Shreyas Iyer Captains Irfan Pathan's Best XII Of IPL 2025, 3 Players From RCB

Former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan, who has donned the hat of an expert and commentator after his retirement from competitive cricket, took to X on Wednesday (June 4) to share his best XII of IPL 2025. In his team, Pathan, who played for five teams – PBKS, DC, SRH, RPS and GL – during his 10-year-long IPL career, includes three players each from Gujarat Titans, Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Mumbai Indians and one each from PBKS, CSK and SRH. Shreyas Iyer was the captain of Pathan’s best XII, and four overseas players are Jos Buttler (GT), Heinrich Klaasen (SRH), Noor Ahmad (CSK) and Josh Hazlewood (CSK). Pathan included Virat Kohli (RCB) and Sai Sudharsan (GT) as openers, and they were followed by Buttler, Iyer (PBKS), Suryakumar Yadav (MI), Klaasen, Naman Dhir (MI) and Krunal Pandya (RCB). Noor was the specialist spinner in Pathan’s team, and Jasprit Bumrah (MI), Prasidh Krishna (GT) and Hazlewood were three fast bowlers. Irfan Pathan’s best XII of IPL 2025 Sai Sudharsan finished as the leading run getter in IPL 2025. In 15 matches, the left-handed batter from Tamil Nadu amassed a total of 759 runs for GT. He was followed by Surya (717 runs in 16 matches) and Kohli (659 runs in 15 matches). In the 18th edition of the world’s richest franchise cricket league, which RCB won on Tuesday (June 3) after getting the better of PBKS by six runs in the final played at Narendra Modi Stadium, Iyer scored 604 runs in 17 matches, whereas Buttler and Klaasen amassed a total of 538 and 487 runs for GT and SRH, respectively. Dhir played 16 matches for MI, and in 12 innings, he amassed a total of 252 runs with a strike rate of 182.60, and Krunal finished the season with 109 runs and 17 wickets. The 34-year-old spin bowling all-rounder from Baroda was in red-hot form in the final, and for his figures of 2/17 in four overs, he won the POTM award. Krishna won the Purple Cap in IPL 2025 for dismissing 25 batters in 15 matches, and he was followed by Noor (24 wickets in 14 matches) and Hazlewood (22 wickets in 12 matches). Bumrah, after missing the first four matches of the season due to a lower back injury, signed off with 18 wickets in 12 matches for the Hardik Pandya-led side.
