Shruti Haasan: Kamal Haasan Unaware Of My Coolie Character, He's Audience First Then Critic | EXCL

Shruti Haasan has impressed her fans with her intriguing character, Preethi, in the upcoming action spectacle, Coolie. The trailer of the film released on Saturday at an event in Chennai. It featured her interesting scenes with Rajinikanth. While the audience knows what to expect from Coolie, her father Kamal Haasan, has no idea of the film’s plot and her character. In an exclusive interview with Zoom, Shruti made the interesting revelation that the veteran superstar never watches her films before the world. Shruti Haasan says Kamal Haasan doesn't watch her films before release Shruti told us, “I don’t show him any of my movies before they release. Neither does he. Earlier in my career, I showed him Luck, and he watched 3 before everyone else did. He has seen my films afterwards. I share my honest opinion with him and he does the same with me. When we like something about our performances, we also boast about each other. We mainly discuss audience reactions, what may and may not have worked.” While being family, Kamal and Shruti are individual actors with illustrious careers to talk about. “We don’t know the stories of each other’s films,” she shared before adding, “He doesn’t know the story of Coolie at all and doesn’t even know what part I am playing. It’s been so many years. Sometimes, I share it with him, sometimes I don’t.” Calling Haasan a ‘regular dad’, Shruti mentioned, “He doesn’t ask me about what I'm working on, what’s the character, etc.” About Coolie Coolie also stars Nagarjuna, Sathyaraj, Upendra, Soubin Shahir, Monisha Blessy and others. The film is set for a grand theatrical release on August 14, 2025, in multiple languages, including Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and Kannada.
