Si Woo Kim's Face at PGA Championship Next to Scheffler Says it All
@Source: newsweek.com
As fate and bad weather would have it, Si Woo Kim played the third round of the PGA Championship alongside Scottie Scheffler. It was a day of mixed emotions for the Korean, who saw his "neighbor" rise to the top of the leaderboard, but was unable to keep up with him as he would have liked.The two Dallas, Texas residents shared a group with Max Homa in an unusual trio due to the weather delay. While Scottie Scheffler posted his best score of the week so far, Kim could not even come close to his exceptional performance of the previous day.A picture posted by journalist Kyle Porter shows Scheffler and Kim signing their respective cards. The Korean's face says more than a thousand words about his day:Scheffler carded a third-round 65 thanks to an eagle, seven birdies and three bogeys. That not only put him atop the leaderboard, but also gave him a comfortable three-stroke lead over his nearest rival, Alex Noren.The highlight of the day for the two-time Masters champion came on the final stretch, when he shot 5-under over the last five holes, including two birdies on the infamous Green Mile."You work your whole life to have a chance to win major tournaments, any tournament for that matter, and tomorrow I have a good opportunity to go out there and try and win the golf tournament," was Scheffler's takeaway from the day."But it's going to take another really good round. There's a lot of great players chasing me on the leaderboard and someone is going to put up a great round," he added.The day also witnessed a curious detail. According to data provided during the television broadcast of the event, Scheffler and Kim have played 11 rounds in official tournaments, with the Ridgewood, New Jersey native averaging 65, the same score he shot this Saturday at Quail Hollow.Kim, on the other hand, was far from his 64 of the previous day, carding three birdies and three bogeys. He dropped three places on the leaderboard and will start the final round tied for 5th, five shots off the lead."It's good and always fun playing with Scottie," Kim said after his performance. "It was fun to have a lot of crowd out there. So it was just a fun round and then a little disappointed, the last hole. But yeah, it was a great round and fun with Scottie, too."Kim bogeyed the 18th after missing a 7-foot putt for par. Had he made it, he would have been tied for third.Scheffler will play the final round of the PGA Championship with Noren, teeing off at 2:40 p.m. Eastern time. Kim will tee off 20 minutes earlier with Jon Rahm.More Golf: PGA Championship: Fans sound alarm off after Jon Rahm nails fan in head
