Son Of Alleged Would-Be Trump Assassin Joins Father In Federal Prison After Child Porn Conviction
@Source: dailycaller.com
The son of the man charged with trying to kill President Donald Trump in Florida in 2024 was sentenced Friday to federal prison on child pornography charges, according to multiple reports.
Oran Alexander Routh, son of Ryan Routh, pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor or minor under the age of 12 and was sentenced to seven years behind bars in North Carolina, local media outlets reported and court records show. The FBI searched the convict’s home to obtain his electronic devices on September 21, six days after his father was arrested for allegedly hiding among shrubbery with a rifle at a Florida golf course where then-presidential candidate Trump was playing. The FBI initially obtained warrants for the younger Routh’s home “to search for evidence of crimes unrelated to child exploitation” after the alleged Trump assassination attempt, court documents say. Agents then found several child pornography videos on his devices and records of an online conversation in which he asked an individual for content involving “mother/daughter or sisters.” Routh obtained material depicting victims estimated to be as young as four years old.

The Friday sentencing happened on the same day that Ryan Routh, who is currently in custody, made his first appearance in court in the Trump assassination plot case, WPBF 25 reported. His trial is scheduled to start on September 8, and the defendant will represent himself against federal prosecutors. The Department of Justice (DOJ) has alleged that Routh was driven by pro-Ukraine sentiment to kill the president and tried to obtain rockets from a supposed Ukrainian contact for the plot.
The Trump administration also obtained guilty pleas in June from two people who conspired to illegally sell Ryan Routh a rifle before his arrest in Florida. One was convicted of firearms trafficking for the sale to Routh, while another was convicted of possessing an unregistered firearm unrelated to the Routh investigation.
