@Source: hoodline.com
This September, Spanish Fork Fairgrounds will transform into a hub of remembrance and service as the Major Brent Taylor Foundation hosts the 9/11 Project from September 10th to 13th. The foundation announced that the event is not just a chance to look back on the tragic events of September 11, 2001, but also to actively be engaged in education and community unity. As reported by Utah County, everyone is invited to join, from students to veterans, to remember, reflect, and serve through various activities envisioned to foster a sense of purpose and community. Among the list of experiences, visitors can expect to immerse themselves in an interactive exhibit detailing the story of 9/11. The exhibit features visuals, artifacts, and firsthand accounts to piece together not only the events of that day, but also the extraordinary acts of courage exhibited by first responders. In a move to also educate future generations, the organizers are offering free field trips and group tours for schools and other community groups, allowing the conversations about patriotism and leadership to unfurl organically amongst the participants. To truly continue to pass on the lessons of 9/11, there is no better way than to share and to deeply engage with the very history that shaped us. The event also touts a Community Resource Fair wherein attendees will have the chance to meet face-to-face with local service groups and civic organizations. Here, citizens can explore volunteer opportunities and connect with various public service entities like first responders and veterans. The fair aims to provide a platform where the unsung heroes of everyday life can share the kind of difference they make in their day-to-day operations. A family-friendly "Touch-a-Truck" exhibit will also be featured, giving kids and adults alike the opportunity to get up close with the vehicles and equipment used by emergency personnel, and to learn more about their roles in the community.
