The 2025 spring sports season is going strong, with Saginaw-area athletes putting up some impressive numbers. But who is the top Saginaw-area junior spring sports athlete? Check out the top Saginaw-area juniorss as nominated by their coaches, then vote for their favorite until noon Monday. Chloe Compau, Frankenmuth softball Chloe Compau is off to a strong start in her junior season after a dominating sophomore softball season. In 12 innings, Compau has 32 strikeouts, allowing just three hits and no walks. As a sophomore, Compau helped lead Frankenmuth to the Tri-Valley Conference title and a Top 5 ranking in Division 2. She was 27-3 with 297 strikeouts in 156 innings, giving up 77 hits and 65 walks for a 0.81 WHIP. She also hit .438 with a .546 on-base and .830 slugging percentage with 10 homers. She also had 50 RBIs, 36 runs scored and 20 walks. Zachary Dzurka, Midland Dow track Zachary Dzurka is the top hurdler in the Saginaw Valley League, leading Midland Dow with a :14.80 time in the 110-meter hurdles and :38.87 in the 300-meter hurdles. Natalie Foltz, Frankenmuth track In her sophomore season, Natalie Foltz finished 10th in the Division 2 state meet in the 1,600 in 5:06.78 and helped the 3,200-meter relay team take second in the state in 9:22.79. Foltz continued to improve during her junior cross country season, finishing ninth in the Division 2 state meet and winning the Saginaw County Cross Country Invitational. Sydney Fox, Birch Run soccer Sydney Fox earned Tri-Valley Conference first team honors as a sophomore forward for Birch Run. Fox scored 10 goals in Birch Run’s first three games of 2025. Breeghan Hamilton, Heritage girls lacrosse Breeghan Hamilton has helped lead the Heritage girls lacrosse team to the top of the Saginaw Valley League. She scored 20 goals in Heritage’s first five games of the season, leading the Hawks to a 4-1 record. Thomas Larson, Alma track Thomas Larson returns for his junior season after finishing 10th in the 1,600-meter run in Division 2 (4:20.04) and helping Alma finish sixth in the 3,200-relay in the state meet. Larson finished 14th in the state in Division 2 cross country. Connor Lasceski, Freeland baseball Freeland infielder Connor Lasceski had a breakout season as a sophomore for the Falcons, who spent most of the 2024 season ranked in the Top 10 in Division 2. Lasceski played both first base and second base for Freeland, hitting .378 with a .534 on-base percentage with four doubles and 20 RBIs. Lyndsey Lyscas, Hemlock softball As a sophomore, Lyndsey Lyscas set a Hemlock single-season record with 12 homers, including back-to-back grand slams against Freeland and back-to-back homers against Valley Lutheran. She finished her sophomore season with 64 RBIs, 42 runs scored and 35 stolen bases. Morgan Matusik, Millington softball As a sophomore, Morgan Matusik was 19-2 as a pitcher with 201 strikeouts in 152 innings, holding batters to a .189 average. At the plate, Matusik hit .370 with two homers, 38 RBIs, 28 runs scored and 22 walks. Noah Reif, Michigan Lutheran Seminary baseball Noah Reif is a three-sport standout entering his junior season on the baseball field, helping Seminary reach the district final. Reif, who played first base, hit .470 with 10 doubles, 34 RBIs, 20 walks, 15 stolen bases and 29 runs scored. Adelyn Senkowski, Freeland soccer Adelyn Senkowski is in her third year on the Freeland varsity girls soccer team, helping the Falcons reach the semifinals as a sophomore goalkeeper with 10 shutouts. Senkowski allowed a total of 21 goals in 2024 and had just five goals scored against her to start the 2025 season. Ella Stoney, Midland Dow soccer Ella Stoney dominated the Saginaw Valley League and the Dow record books in her sophomore season. Stoney, who has committed to Saginaw Valley State University, set Dow single-season records with nine homers, 70 runs scored and 28 stolen bases, adding the Dow career record for stolen bases. She hit .504 with a .554 on-base percentage, driving in 50 runs.
