In local cricket action, St. David’s and St. George’s recorded wins in the Premier Division, and in the First Division, Devonshire Recreation Club and PHC claimed victories.
Premier Division
St. David’s Cricket Club beat Flatts Victoria by 8 wickets
At Lord’s, St. David’s Cricket Club cruised to an eight-wicket victory over Flatts Victoria.
After winning the toss and electing to bowl, St. David’s dismissed Flatts for 73 runs. Bowler Kevon Fubler was instrumental, taking six wickets for 21 runs in nine overs. Dajon Carey was the top scorer for Flatts with 17.
St. David’s reached their target for the loss of only two wickets, finishing on 77 for 2. Tre Manders led the successful chase with an unbeaten 38. For Flatts, Angus Betts took one wicket for 20 runs.
St. George’s Cricket Club beat Bailey’s Bay by 89 runs
At Wellington Oval, St. George’s Cricket Club defeated Bailey’s Bay by 89 runs.
Choosing to bat first, St. George’s posted a total of 280 for 8. Opener Jonte Smith scored 85 runs from 71 balls, including six fours and seven sixes. Sharye Tavares was the most effective Bailey’s Bay bowler, with figures of 2 for 40.
In response, Bailey’s Bay were all out for 191. Azende Furbert top-scored with 56. Zeko Burgess spearheaded the St. George’s bowling attack, taking four wickets for 28 runs.
First Division
Devonshire Recreation Club beat Southampton Rangers by 4 wickets
At home, Devonshire Recreation Club handed Southampton Rangers their first loss of the season with a four-wicket victory.
The Rangers won the toss and batted first, being bowled out for 115. Oyinde Bascome top-scored with 43. Nyrobi Carmichael was the pick of the Devonshire bowlers, taking four wickets for 46 runs.
Devonshire reached the target with a score of 120 for 6. Allan Douglas Jr. secured the win with an unbeaten 32. For the Rangers, Makai Jacobs took two wickets for 23 runs.
PHC beat Willow Cuts by 11 runs
At PHC Stadium, an all-round performance from Charles Trott led the home side to an 11-run victory over Willow Cuts.
Batting first, PHC were dismissed for 167. Trott anchored the innings with a score of 78. Ras Solomon Burrows was the leading bowler for Willow Cuts, claiming three wickets for 19 runs.
In reply, Willow Cuts were all out for 156, falling just short of the target. Kwasi James top-scored with 24. Trott also starred with the ball for PHC, taking three wickets for 35 runs to seal the victory.
