Stacey Solomon rushed to support co-stars on ort Your Life Ou after they spoke out about their family heartbreak.
A new season of Sort Your Life Out kicked off on Tuesday night (February 11) as Stacey Solomon and the team met the Appleyard family in Sussex to help them declutter their home.
Phil and Helen lived in their home with their four children, a 14-year-old daughter and 12-year-old boy triplets. While at the warehouse, BBC fans learned the family had over 2,000 greetings cards, 74 Christmas pinecones and 99 odd socks.
However, when they headed to the clothing section, Stacey discovered their heartbreaking history. As the BBC star held up a hoodie, Helen explained she couldn’t part with it as she confessed to wearing it when she had her daughter Eleanor.
She said: “Eleanor is the baby number two. We had a miscarriage at 12 weeks and then I went on to have Eleanor. So, we got past the 20-week mark and then I lost some movement, so they sent me for a scan.
“We lay in the scan room and heard the words that you never, ever, want to hear, ’your baby has no heartbeat’”. Helen became overcome with emotion while retelling Stacey what had happened.
In a cutaway, she told the camera it was ‘horrific’ but was grateful to be leaving the hospital with her husband. As Phil spoke about what happened to the camera, he broke down in tears, adding: “I didn’t think that was going to hit me then. Sorry. “
Sadly, the family heartbreak didn’t end there as Helen continued to tell Stacey in the warehouse they went on to lose another baby at 19 weeks who they had called Levi.
Stacey said: “I’m so sorry, absolutely heartbreaking and I can totally understand why this would mean so much to you.”
As Helen confessed that although she won’t wear the item of clothing, she didn’t want to part with it. Away from the couple, Stacey revealed she wanted to do something special for Helen and Phil.
During the show, the BBC star pinned some family photos of the children onto a piece of driftwood the family found while at Brighton Beach.
With the sentimental item hanging above their new bed, Helen instantly noticed the touching addition. Stacey said: “I wanted to celebrate all of your children.”
Pointing at the image, Helen added: “And there’s Eleanor.” As the show came to an end, it was clear the family were thrilled with their new de-cluttered home.
In tears Helen told the team: “Just to have this happen for us as a family is just beautiful and it means so much more than just the declutter. It’s also the memory journey, repurposing stuff and letting go of things that doesn’t define us.”
Sort Your Life Out is available to watch on BBC iPlayer.
