Star Punjab Kings all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who had a disappointing outing at the recent IPL 2025, on Tuesday smacked a 49-ball 106 to play a captain’s knock and lead the Washington Freedom to a whopping 113-run win against the Los Angeles Knight Riders in the Major League Cricket.
Maxwell smacked the Los Angeles deliveries all around the park with 13 sixes to go past the triple-figure mark for the first time in Major League Cricket.
Having won the toss and opted to bat first, Washington lost Rachin Ravindra on just the fifth delivery of the match. Mitchell Owen and wicketkeeper Andries Gous then added 35 runs for the second wicket, before the former was dismissed by Jason Holder in the third over.
After Washington were reduced to 92/5 in the 12th over, Maxwell and Obus Pienaar built a match-winning 116-run partnership with Obus Pienaar to take their team to a whopping 208/5.
Maxwell came out to bat at No. 6 and had a bit of a slow start with 11 runs off 15 deliveries, but then came the over of his compatriot Tanveer Sangha, where he began unleashing his power.
At one point, Glenn Maxwell was 11* (15), with no boundaries.
He ended on 106* (49), with two fours and THIRTEEN sixes!

Maxwell shifted into top gear after beginning with 11 in 15 deliveries and then smacking 89 runs off only 37 balls to reach his hundred in just 48 balls.
“Came in slightly different circumstances, needed to bat differently, started pretty slow, but once I thought we needed a few more runs, took my shots and it came off. We just needed to bat time at that stage,” Maxwell said while speaking to the broadcasters.
In the chase, the Knight Riders were reduced to 26/5 in the eighth over before Saif Badar and Holder added 35 runs for the sixth wicket. After the former was dismissed by Mitchell Owen in the 11th over, LAKR couldn’t build any more partnerships and were bowled out for just 95 runs.
Jack Edwards and Owen picked three wickets apiece.
